1st Transfers

May 7, 2025

Dear Parents, Happy Parents Day!!  Thank you for always loving each other and showing each other so much respect. Your examples of maturity have affected my life in the most positive ways and I'm sure I'd be all sorts of screwed up if God hadn't of sent me to you. Thankfully, he did. Love you both!!

We got transfer news last night and I'll be moving to μˆ˜μ› (Suwon). Luckily, Elder Lockhart will be staying here so that Artemis has a familiar face still as she gets baptised. She fasted for 23 hours that one of us would stay, which is super awesome because, I kid you not, she has a harder time fasting than quiting ciggarettes haha.

My new companion will be Elder Kost, I've met him before and he was a pretty awesome guy. He's gonna cook me though because he's one of the few elders who absolutely refuses to speak english to anyone, so this is gonna be a headache. But I don't want to end my training without being an effective missionary so it'll be good to have only SYL for a whole transfer, even if it suckkkkssss.

As for the area, I went to Suwon for my interview with the president and it was probably the most beautiful place I've been, and I literally told my companion that I wanted to serve there so prayers answered, heck yah. I wonder if Elder Kost will confiscate my airsoft gun though...

Artemis Update:
Baptism is not happening this week. Her mom got drunk and said she would disown her if she got baptised and then started hitting her. Absolutely solid mom, incredible example of love.

But yah, pray for Artemis so we can get her mom's permission. Their family needs someone with the gospel.

Spiritual Thought:

In Korea we have a holiday called "Parents Day" and that happened this week, and since it's Mothers Day in the states I wanted to talk about Moms.

We had an english class this week and we held it on Parents Day, so we thought it would be a good idea to have everyone write a note to their parents in English. One of the guys is probably in his 70's so his parents have passed away. He still wrote the note though, and his cousin requested he read it to her, so he did. He read it very quietly and the english was obviously very basic but he started getting emotional and I was writing on the chalk board pretending my big ol' ears weren't hard core eavsdropping, but of course they were, you kidding? It was a super special moment and made me realize how special parents are to so many people. We went around the table and had everyone say something they are grateful to their parents for, and they all said something really great. When it got to my turn, I told them my Mom taught me how to pray. Among the other millions of things my Mom has taught me, that is one of the most important because I use that every day to feel closer to my heavenly parents. Because my mom loves me, she taught me how to pray so I can stay safe physically and spiritually. I still remember her helping me get through prayers kneeling by my bunk bed as a wee lad. Moms are special.

Love you all!

Tragedy pt. 2

 May 7, 2025

Not trying to be dramatic, but my life is in shambles.  Shout out to my boy Elder Park who seems to always get annihilated at the same time as me, but right after getting my email finished up last week I went to get a haircut. I had been warned that koreans don't know how to cut white person hair (if it's curly there's no hope for you) but wow. I really underestimated that statement. There has been much weeping and nashing off teeth. I am young and ready to die in my afflictions. A little off the top bro. What part about a little off the top could possibly be interpreted at 94% off the top. You know how when you get a haircut they pull your hair up and measure how much to take off? This guy threw that strat completely out the window. Very first snip of those scissors I knew I was cooked. He had one hand in his pocket and just ran the scissors across my head and sniped like a mad man. I watched a 4 inch long clump of hair fall in to my lap very first thing and immidiately turned to fervent prayer for a miracle. Turns out God needs me more humble for something coming up because he didnt strike the old man down. So yeah, I got destroyed, lined me up like a used Q-Tip.  Basically a buzz cut but without the benefit of it growing out good because he didn't even cut the sides lol. I could definitely rule North Korea with this cut though, on my momma. This has been the biggest division with my comp I've had because I consider it treason and sabotage. He said, "yeah the guys definitely the better one so I'll take the woman" and while this guy was spinning my chair around taking an angle grinder to my head i was watching (albeit blurrily from tears and RPM's) this lady line up my boy with a ruler and protractor. Come to find out he'd never seen the guy and had had the lady last time he got a haircut and "liked what she did." His greed disgustes me.

Anywayyyss this week was fire (as long as I ignored all reflections) because we had a lot to do. Firstly, we had our interviews with President, my comp was joking mine was gonna be an hour long but I was in and out in like 3 minutes flat lol. That's gotta be a mission record. I must not be as stressed out as the other missionaries cause the average is like 15 minutes haha. I'll think of some questions to ask him next time. As bad as my haircut is I was excited for my mission president to see it because he loves a "neat elder" and boy howdy I'm so neet right now I don't even need to comb my hair, and he called me handsome.

Best food I've eaten in ages was at QooQoo, I'm writing this down for future reference.

My companion and I ran into two strangly nice people on the street on our way to the church. It was a mom and her son from china who are running their own restaurant. We told them we'd come back and try their food so we did. I wanted to wash my hands before I ate so I asked if there was a bathroom and they told us to go down the street two doors and up some stairs. We followed those instructions to basically a closet with a squatter toilet in the floor. There was a trash can full of poopy toilet paper and no sink or hand sanitizer. Dunno what was more disgusting between the sight of that toilet or the knowledge that the people that were making my food at that very moment have definitely used it. My immune system is gonna be so goated. Bring it on C. Diff!

But anyways, the lady's son was super interested in our english class and he came to it last week, his name is Lee and he's a legend. Hopefully I get to know him a little better.

Tony story of the week:   Stopped by for some more gas burgers from my boy Tony and he started talking about his friend T (who is a woman from South Africa I met in a store the other day) and how he got into an argument with her. I'm not gonna bother adding anything so I'll just quote him. "She asked me if I had ever killed someone and that really [redacted] me off. Thats like me asking her if she ever [redacted] [redacted]. I mean did I carry a gun? Yes. Did I threaten people? Yes. Did I defend myself? Yes. Did I shoot at people? Yes. Did any of them ever drop dead? Not that i saw or knew of." Keep in mind bro is saying this with some heat and he really felt he was in the right. I didnt want to tell him but lowkey it sounds like our girl T was asking a very valid question lol. May God bless his parole that it will be filled with success and repentance.

My P-Day is on Wednesday (today) because we did a multi zone activity. It was fire. We went to a museum called The Independence Hall, all I'm gonna say... Japan yo what was wrong with yall fr fr.  As far as the building goes though, its the biggest tiled roof in the world and looks like the most fire CoD map ever. It was in the middle of a super big forest which was super refreshing for me, and we played a massive game of capture the flag.

I'll never get tired of fighter jets πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ. Put me in coach. I've logged at least 1500 hours on Microsoft Flight Sim and can definitely be trusted.

Artimis update:  Artemis might move her baptisimal date forward, which would be dope because as of now I might get transferred out of Anseong before she gets baptised. We'll see. She also passed her baptisimal interview so that's also fire. Unfortunately her mom is out clubbing literally all day and night and her dad lives super far away cause they're divorced so getting a parent signature is proving very difficult. Honestly if the mom is too drunk to remeber signing if she ever becomes conscious again thats her own fault lol.

Spiritual Thought:   I finished the BoM again a few days ago so ya boy is in 1 Nephi again, and I read the story of Nephi building a ship with his family. Sometimes Nephi seems like a bit of a big-head lol, but I think he's gotta be in the top 5 most obedient people who have ever lived. In the verse where the Lord tells him he needs to build a ship he immediately follows up with, "Where should I go to get metal and build tools?" Sometimes in the scriptures even the prophets doubt whether or not God is capable of using them for the task at hand because they feel so innadiquate. Believe me, I'm trying to learn a squiggly line language so I know what this feels like, but I like Nephi's example of faith. He didn't question, he just immediatly asked how he should get it done. This week I'm gonna focus more on being like Nephi because God sent me here, and that means that I'm gonna be able to do whatever he needs me to do for Him, even though I've got the IQ of a really pretty rock. At the end of the day, we are pretty inadequate, but Jesus is gonna "mind the gap." He's gonna make anything He needs possible, possible.

I'm suprised this email was so long, I typed it on a bus on my phone... and I hate typing on a phone! (flashback to my first email) So if anything was spelled weird, blame it on that.

Love y'all
